[Also in Division C3] Compounds of the formula in which R 1 and R 3 each represent hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl which may be substituted by an alkoxy, -OH, or -CN group, R 2 and R 4 each represent an alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl group which may be substituted by an alkoxy, -OH, or -CN group and X is hydrogen are prepared by reacting the corresponding compounds wherein X is chlorine with sodium hydrosulphide. The corresponding disulphides are prepared by oxidizing the mercaptans with sodium hypochlorite. Compounds of the above formula wherein X is -S-R 5 wherein R 5 is butyl or benzyl are prepared by reacting the mercapto triazine with alkaline aqueous sodium butyl (or benzyl) thiosulphate.Compounds wherein R 5 is phenyl or benzthiazole-2-yl are prepared by reacting the mercapto triazine with phenyl sulphene chloride or benzthiazyl sulphene chloride. Compounds of the above formula wherein X is -NR 6 R 7 wherein R 6 is hydrogen or an alkyl, aralkyl or cycloalkyl group, and R 7 is an alkyl, aralkyl or cycloalkyl group; or R 6 and R 7 together with the nitrogen form a piperidine or morpholine ring are prepared by reacting the mercapto triazine with the corresponding amine in the presence of sodium hypochlorite.</p> |
