1,202,163. Lead acid battery. N. W. COOPER. 21 Aug., 1968 [13 March, 1968], No. 12111/68. Addition to 1,198,799. Heading H1B. A lead acid battery is regenerated by electrically charging the battery, draining the acid electrolyte and filling with a strongly alkaline solution preferably NaOH or KOH, discharging through an electrical load, reverse charging, removing the solution and rinsing the battery with water and then refilling with acid electrolyte. A battery of reversed polarity results. The formation of spongy lead on the positive plate during discharge is improved by adding a lead solution e.g. sodium plumbate to the battery at any time(s) e.g. to the alkaline solution before filling the battery therewith. |
