PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a doctor blade for gravure coating which performs a coating process with a uniform loading right after the start of using the doctor blade and makes streaks and irregularities hardly occur almost without a change in the distribution of a loading over time, and a gravure coating method. SOLUTION: This doctor blade 3 for gravure coating scrapes a surplus coating liquid off the surface of a gravure roll 1 by depressing the doctor blade to the entire width direction of a gravure roll 1, to the surface of which the coating liquid is supplied. The blade 3 has a widthwise slope 3b at the tip part of the side, depressed to the gravure roll 1, of the blade 3. In addition, the distribution range of the slope length Lc of the slope 3b to the width direction falls within 30% of the specified length, and the straightness of the doctor blade alone is set to be better than 50μm in terms of swell in the width direction.
