Preparing malt extract with a non-bitter and bread-free taste, comprising heating a mash comprising malted corn and oats in order to carry out saccharification, is new. A malt extract prepared without the use of yeast or hops comprises malted corn or oats, contains vitamin B and E and does not taste bitter or of bread. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Malt drink containing the malt extract; and (2) Preparation of the malt extract.
