The refrigerating unit (1) consists of a parallelepiped shaped cardboard container (2) which has a partly open side (4) and may be opened to receive a flexible plastic bag (5) filled with a heat carrying liquid (3). In use the container is placed on the top of an insulated food bag with the partly open face directed downwards to the food for maximum effect.
