摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface treatment method for a phosphor whereby sufficient water resistance is attained at a low cost by uniformly bonding an oxide to the surface of a particulate phosphor. SOLUTION: In this surface treatment method, a reactive gas is introduced under or near under the atmospheric pressure into the discharge space between electrodes to be converted into a plasma state; and a phosphor is exposed to the reactive gas in the plasma state to deposit an oxide, e.g. silicon oxide, titanium oxide, aluminum oxide, or zirconium oxide, on the surface of the phosphor.
