PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for continuously producing cyclododecatriene-1,5,9 (CDT) in high conversion, high selectivity and high yield by trimerizing 1,3-butadiene (BD). SOLUTION: BD is trimerized by (1) dissolving a Lewis base in an inactive hydrocarbon solvent, (2) adding an organic aluminum compound to the solution and aging the solution and (3) simultaneously adding BD and a titanium compound to the aged solution or adding BD and subsequently adding the titanium compound.
