PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network management system capable of displaying failure information about a failure occurring in a network device before starting an operation terminal after the operation terminal is started. SOLUTION: In this method, the operation terminal, a management server, and the network device are connected to a communication network for managing a network. When the management server detecting the failure of the network device notifies the operation terminal of a failure occurrence event, the operation terminal acquires the failure information from the management server. According to a request from the operation terminal, a program for receiving the failure occurrence event from the management server is transmitted to the operation terminal, and on the basis of the request from the operation terminal, a program for acquiring a list of the failure information retained in the management server is transmitted to the operation terminal.
