PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a titanium dioxide pigment, excel lent in balance of hydrophobicity, dispersibility and heat resistance and particu larly suitable for thin film processing of a plastic and to provide a resin composi tion in which titanium dioxide pigment obtained by the method is formulated. SOLUTION: The method for producing the titanium dioxide pigment comprises dry-coating the surfaces of titanium dioxide pigment particles with hydrolyzate of a specific organosilane compound. As a result, the titanium dioxide pigment is useful in a field of thin film processing, particularly for films to which lacing resistance is required, as a coloring agent for plastics and the resin composition is nearly free from such processing defect as to protrude lacing, pinhole, etc., defective particles of dispersibility of titanium dioxide pigment on the surface and has excellent surface smoothness and gloss.
