PURPOSE: Provided are a white phosphor for exciting long wavelength ultraviolet radiation, which can be applied to a long wavelength ultraviolet emitting diode and an active light emitting type liquid crystal display, and a process for producing the white phosphor. CONSTITUTION: The white phosphor represented by the formula: (1-x)Al2O3·SiO2:Eu¬2+, contains Al2O3-SiO2 as a matrix and europium(Eu) as an active agent, wherein 0<x<1. And the white phosphor is produced by mixing an aluminum-containing compound, a silica-containing compound, and a europium-containing compound in acetone, alcohol, or water solvent, drying the mixture at 100-150deg.C, and calcining the dried mixture in a high pure alumina boat at 800-1500deg.C under the reducing atmosphere. |
