PURPOSE: A method for retrieving an absent telephone number in a mobile communication terminal is provided to retrieve an absent caller ID without a plurality of key inputs. CONSTITUTION: A control unit checks whether an absent message display release key signal is inputted(305). If the absent message display release key signal is not inputted, the control unit checks whether a caller ID retrieval request key signal is inputted(310). If the caller ID retrieval request key signal is inputted, the control unit checks whether the caller ID retrieval request key signal outputted from a key input unit is an up-key input signal(325). If the caller ID retrieval request key signal is the up-key input signal, the control unit reads an absent message in which a current sequence of the absent message is increased by 1 in a forward direction from a memory, and displays the read absent message through a display unit(330). If the caller ID retrieval request key signal is a down-key input signal, the control unit reads an absent message in which a current sequence of the absent message is decreased by 1 in a backward direction from the memory, and displays the read absent message through the display unit(335). The control unit checks whether a call request key signal is inputted from the key input unit(340). If the call request key signal is inputted, the control unit enters in a call mode and performs the call mode(345).
