PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing construction for water retaining boards capable of easily and strongly fixing and installing a water retaining board regardless of new or old installation which is considered to be helpful for easing heat island phenomenon by creating an adiabatic effect and an atmospheric temperature rise restricting effect by installing a fixing construction for water retaining board on a folded plate roofing. SOLUTION: A folded plate roof A is laid by sequentially and temporarily fixing the folded plates 2 over tight frames 3 installed on a beam 1, a plurality of water retaining boards 6 capable of impregnating and holding moisture inside are laid so as to lay the water retaining boards straddling the folded plate roof, hold-down bars 8 formed to a long-sized flat plate shape are placed on the top surface of each water retaining board, and these folded plates, water retaining boards and hold-down bars are tightened together to the tight frames 3 with bolts 4 and nuts 5.
