Polluted water treatment system using granulated furnace slag

A filter having a treatment zone that includes particulate material adapted to substantially reduce impurities in polluted water is disclosed. The particulate material includes granulated blast furnace slag or steel furnace slag fines or both. Also disclosed is a constructed wetland polluted water treatment system and an associated method for using the system and filter.
