PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trunnion of a toroidal continuously variable transmission, wherein deterioration of the durability of the trunnion is prevented and the toroidal continuously variable transmission is miniaturized. SOLUTION: In the trunnion 14 of the toroidal continuously variable transmission, an input disk 4 and an output disk 7 are concentrically and rotatably supported with their inner surfaces 4a and 7a facing each other, and a power roller 36 is held between the input disk 4 and the output disk 7 and supported rotatably. The trunnion 14 oscillates around pivotal shaft 16 at a position of torsion relative to an input shaft 2 of the input disk 4 and the output disk 7. In the trunnion 14, the quenching process is applied to a part near the back surface 14a of the trunnion 14 of each side surface of the trunnion 14 on the input disk 2 side and on the output disk 4 side, and the part is a striking part 51 to be struck to a stopper 55 for preventing the trunnion 14 from oscillating around the axis 16 as the center of oscillation exceeding the latitude.
