PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a submergible pump and a control method of the submergible pump capable of surely and effectively suctioning and delivering even sediment or slurry including cord-shaped objects. SOLUTION: This submergible pump is provided with an impeller casing 12 having an impeller 11 therein, a rotational driving motor 14 having the impeller 11 on an output shaft 13 and rotationally driving the impeller 11, a stirring blade 15 mounted on an extended end of the output shaft 13 of the rotational driving motor 14 and rotationally driven integrally with the impeller 11, a load detection sensor 16 for detecting the load of the rotational driving motor 14 and generating sensor output when the detected value exceeds a threshold value, and a control device 17 for controlling the rotational driving motor 14 based on the sensor output of the load detection sensor 16 and reversely rotating the rotational driving motor 14.
