PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drain cock with small head loss having high stability of water-stop. SOLUTION: The drain cock comprised of a cock unit for causing an intermittent water flow, an operating rod 27 for operating the cock unit and an opening and shutting device 29 of a valve for vertically driving the operating rod is stored in a unit body so that it can be placed downward of a nozzle 3, and it includes a cut-off valve 5 for cutting off the water flow by blocking a watercourse 26 after the nozzle has been pulled out in the case of repairing and a spring 9 stored in the unit body so that it can be placed downward of the cut-off valve for pushing up the cut-off valve in the case of repairing. The cut-off valve is incorporated into part where a channel is scarcely influenced, its body shape is slim, and the head loss becomes low. Stability of operation can be enhanced by eliminating transverse vibration of the opening and shutting device of the valve. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
