PURPOSE: A device for processing the key input of a complex digital multimedia system is provided to offer a key code encoding device for defining a complex key integrating a new function to a part of keys arranged in a keyboard typed input device and encoding a key code transmitted from the complex key into a control instruction to perform the corresponding function of a module operating on the system. CONSTITUTION: The keyboard typed input device(104) includes the complex keys generating the control instruction to control the function of each module as one single key code. A key code encoding module(114) converts the key code transmitted from the complex key into the control instruction of one module operated on the system. The key code encoding module includes a key code receiver, an operating mode detector, a key code map storing part, and a key code encoding part.
