PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catch and a doorstep that are used in a public type lock, dispense with a spacer, prevent tampering and excel in appearance. SOLUTION: The catch, which is for a lock forming an overlap between a door and a frame at closure, comprises a base part including a support, a guard plate projecting forward from one edge of the support, and a lever catch part and a boss part arranged in upper-lower relation on a back surface of the support; and fittings comprising a headed screw. The base part is fixed with the fittings to either the frame or the door, and a rotary lever or sliding lock bar of the lock mounted on either the door or the frame can be engaged with and disengaged from the lever catch part to lock and unlock the door. The doorstops combined with the catch for the lock are made of an elastic material that is fixed over the screw head of the fitting recessed from a front surface of the support as a tip is projected from the front surface of the support.
