The drive device uses a length-adjustable lift element whose push rod interacts with the flap. Close to the bottom of the lift element (25) is a locking device with claw. In the closed state of the flap a locking bolt lying in the cavity of the claw is engaged by the claw so that as the piston rod (29) moves further inwards the lift element is prevented from any further counter movement. The locking means can be a locking shoe formed by a sheet metal strip.
