A burner fuel supply line 11 has a shut-off valve 14 and communicates with a sealed chamber 32 having a flexible wall portion which is moved to expand the chamber 32 when the shut-off valve is closed so as to draw fuel from the line 11 into the chamber, and which is moved to decrease the chamber-volume when the shut-off valve 14 is opened. In the embodiment shown the flexible wall is a bellows 33. The shut-off valve 14 is operated by a doubleacting piston 19 which slides in a cylinder 20 the ends of which are selectively connectible to a source P of pressure or to vacuum through lines 21, 22 containing three-way valves 21a, 22a. When the piston 19 is retracted to close the shut-off valve 14 a tappet arm 23 mounted on the piston 19 engages and moves a spool valve member 24 so as to connect the pressure source P to a cylinder 38 through a line 27 which opens behind a piston 37 in the cylinder 38. The piston 37 is thus retracted and contracts the bellows 33. When the piston 19 is extended to open the shut-off valve 14, the spool valve member 24 is moved by a spring 251 so as to connect the pressure source P through a line 28b to the cylinder 38 in front of the piston 37 and to bellows 33 through a line 28a, and thus the bellows 33 is expandable. In a modification of this embodiment the interior of the bellows 33 communicates with the lens 11 and the chamber 32 communicates with the line 28a. The bellows 33 may be replaced by a diaphragm. In a second embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) the chamber is formed between a diaphragm (45) and one wall of diaphragm vessel (40), the space between the diaphragm and the other wall of the vessel (40) being connected to the line 28a. A rod (47, 56) connects the diaphragm (45) to a second diaphragm (53) situated in a second diaphragm vessel (41). The second vessel (41) being connected on one side to the line 28b and on the other side. to the line 27.
