The stent, for the support of blood vessel walls, is of a braided metal wire (a) of medical steel, titanium or shape-memory metal. The braided wire is shaped by a laser, and finished by micro sand blasting to round the edges. The surfaces are coated (b) with a bio-material which promotes the colonization of specific cells and inhibits unwanted cell growth.
