The tent has a fold-up upper boot flap part (3) and a fold-down lower boot flap part (4) which open to form the base (5) and top of the tent. The side walls (7,8) and back (9a, 9b) of the tent are integrated into the inside wall of the vehicle, preferably in recesses along the edges. When opened the upper flap (3) forms the upper outer side of the roof of the tent.
