The coupling for a prosthesis implant, e.g. for a replacement hip joint, has a male component (10) and a female component (11). The male component has a cone (12) in a press fit within a truncated cone section (15) of a cut-out (14) in the female part, to take the inserted male cone. The material for the female part has a Young module of elasticity at most of 35 GPa and at most equal to the material of the male part. A surface (13) of the male part is at right angles to the coupling axis (A1), butting against a matching surface (17) of the female part. The female part is of pyrocarbon, and the male part is of metal or ceramics or pyrocarbon.
