PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preparing method for a dimethyl ether synthesizing catalyst which gives catalytic activity components to an excellent dispersion, takes in less impurities and can give a homogeneous catalyst, and to provide the catalyst obtained by the method.

SOLUTION: The preparing method is for synthesizing dimethyl ether from carbon monoxide and hydrogen. The catalyst is prepared by using a sol-gel method.
