PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a film-like polymeric material flattened with high accuracy by certainly correcting stripe-like undulation or wrinkle-like unevenness generated in the film-like polymeric material, during a process performing heat treatment such as a calender processing process or a drying process for a paint applied to the film-like polymeric material. SOLUTION: An expander roll apparatus 51 for widening the film-like polymeric material 10 is equipped with a rotary roll 38 and an expander roll 52 brought into contact with the roll 38 under pressure in a separable manner. By bringing the expander roll 52 into contact with the rotary roll 38 under pressure, the film-like polymeric material 10 running through the nip between the roll 38 and the expander roll 52 is tentered to correct the undulation or wrinkle-like unevenness of the film-like polymeric material 10.
