Mobile apparatus for an electrolytic cell isolator - for shorting out one of a bank of electrolytic cells

Electrolytic cells which are used for electrolysis of aqs. solns of alkali halides are connected in series. For diaphragm replacement a cell is isolated by short circuiting. A truck which travels on rails between rows of such cells has a traversing contactor which can be connected to a cell on either side. The contactor has flexible contacts which are latched to terminal plates at both ends of a cell. The remaining cells in the row continue to operate.
