PURPOSE: A method and a device for measuring friction of a pivot bearing of a rotational magnetic disk drive are provided to precisely measure micro movement of the pivot bearing difficult to be measured through a mechanical method by finding each profile through a parameter, which is variance and speed of the pivot bearing, and obtaining a frictional characteristic from the profiles. CONSTITUTION: A laser generator(42) irradiates a laser beam to a slider(41s) of the magnetic disk drive(41). A frequency analyzer(43) outputs a result analyzing an input signal from the magnetic disk drive and the laser generator. A display such as an oscilloscope(44) receives/displays an output signal from the frequency analyzer and the laser generator to a screen.
