<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of resulting in obstructing smooth traffic flow due to a driver not noticing the start of a preceding vehicle and the startable state of an own vehicle after the vehicle traveling a road stops behind the preceding vehicle, and a problem in a conventional start annunciator arrange ment wherein a system for detecting the start of the preceding vehicle is compli cated and expensive. <P>SOLUTION: The rear part of the preceding vehicle is photographed by a telecamera 21 mounted on the vehicle. A monitoring line setting circuit 4 sets a narrow monitoring line 21 on an image 20. A movement change degree computing circuit 5 computes movement on a remarked picture element on the monitoring line 21. When the movement is in a prescribed direction and exceeds a predetermined level, a preceding vehicle start detecting circuit 7 determines the start of the preceding vehicle and gives an alarm signal from an alarm originating device 8. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
