PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device in which it is not possible to destroy the inside of a call apparatus when an abnormal voltage occurs from a line, calls and communications are made possible after the occurrence of the abnormal voltage and further, the inside of the communication device is not destroyed even when an abnormal voltage continuously occurs in the communication device such as a telephone set, facsimile equipment or the like connected to a line for performing data communication for calls. SOLUTION: In the communication device which is connected to the line for performing communication operations and has an overvoltage protecting part in a line connecting part, when the abnormal voltage occurs on the line, the overvoltage protecting part is short-circuited.
