PURPOSE: A paper detecting device for an office machine is provided to precisely control a printing position of an image by installing a sensor actuator operated about a rotational center of a register roller. CONSTITUTION: A paper detecting device includes a sensor actuator(131) integrally formed with a paper alignment section(140) and an optical sensor for generating a paper detecting signal by detecting an end position of the sensor actuator(131). The paper alignment section(140) includes two supporting parts(141a,141b) rotatably fixed to a shaft(24) of a register roller(23) and a C-type joint(143) for connecting the supporting parts(141a,141b) to each other. The C-type joint(143) has first to third contact alignment section(145a,145b,145c) positioned between small rollers(23a) of the register roller(23).
