PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gasification apparatus for biomass, with which adhesion of tar components, particles, or the like, to a cooler at the rear flow side of a gasification furnace is controlled. SOLUTION: In the gasification apparatus 10 for the biomass equipped with a hopper 11, a screw feeder 11a, or the like, for supplying the biomass 1, a supply nozzle 13, or the like, for supplying a gasification agent containing oxygen 3 and steam 2, the gasification furnace 12 for reacting the biomass 1 with the gasification agent inside to gasify the biomass 1 and a cooling column 16 which is connected to the gasification furnace 12 and cools a produced gas 4 from the gasification furnace 12, a cyclone separator 14 and a tar decomposition column 15 are installed between the gasification furnace 12 and the cooling column 16 so that the particles 6 in the produced gas 4 from the gasification furnace 12 are removed and tar components in the produced gas 4 are decomposed.
