PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ground fabric for an air bag, lightweight, having a soft feeling, and having excellent storage performance, while maintaining air barrier properties required as the air bag, and to provide the air bag. SOLUTION: This ground fabric for the air bag is given by coating a woven fabric having a cover factor of 2,000-2,800 with an elastomer resin, wherein the woven fabric has an air permeability of≤0.5 l/cm<SP>2</SP>/min measured at a pressure difference of 20 kPa after coated with the elastomer resin.
