PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an umbrella holding device capable of preventing any breakage of internal components of the device. SOLUTION: This umbrella holding device comprises a body, an umbrella receiving portion opened at the front face of the body and formed to a through state in an up-down direction so as to receive a handle of the umbrella, a shutter slidable in a horizontal direction so as to open or close the open portion of the umbrella receiving portion, a knob portion for manually moving this shutter to the closed position, a dial mechanism for forming a row of numbers, and a locking mechanism which restricts the movement of the shutter when the shutter takes a closed position and the row of numbers formed by the dial mechanism is not the row of unlocking numbers; the shutter and the locking mechanism are respectively equipped with acting portions and stoppers which directly act together; a movement from the closed position to the open position of the shutter is restricted when the acting portion is brought to contact with the stopper, and the knob portion is made slidable independently from the shutter as the feature of this umbrella stand.
