PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably and surely attach and install a unitized image reader being a single body on the upper surface of an image forming apparatus without causing deformation nor impairing a function. SOLUTION: Three-point bearing positions A, B and C supporting the reader 50 are set so that the area of a triangle formed by the three-point bearing positions A, B and C may be equal to or above the 1/2 of the projection area of the reader 50, and the position of the center of gravity of the triangle may be within the specified range of the center of gravity of the reader 50. Attaching members 53 are provided on the reader 50 side at the respective points A, B and C, while a supporting member 54 in which hard rubber is inserted and attached is provided on the image forming apparatus side, then the members 53 and 54 are coupled to elastically support and fix the reader 50.
