PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve system for a scooter type motorcycle having surely improved foot-straddling performance and maintainability by preventing a cam chain adjuster from being protruded upward from a cylinder and therefore preventing a main frame from being protruded upward. SOLUTION: The scooter type motorcycle has the cam chain adjuster 66 provided on the side of the cylinder 32 of an engine unit 3 in the cross direction of the motorcycle for adjusting the tension of a cam chain 62. Thus, the cam adjuster 66 is prevented from being protruded upward and an upper tube 26 is prevented from receiving interference. No need therefore exists for raising the upper position of the upper tube 26 to avoid the interference and the upper edge of a front foot board 19 forming a foot-straddling space is kept lower.
