<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive image recording material responsible to a heat mode and having excellent sensitivity in which production of a residual film during developing is suppressed, an image with excellent contrast can be formed and thermal diffusion to a supporting body is prevented. <P>SOLUTION: The recording material is produced by successively depositing a lower layer essentially comprising a polymer compound having a functional group expressed by general formula (1): -Y-Z and a phenolic hydroxyl group and an image recording layer containing an alkali-soluble resin and increasing the solubility with an alkali aqueous solution by exposure to IR laser light on a supporting body. In formula (1), Y represents a divalent connecting group or a monovalent end group selected from -CO-, -SO<SB>2</SB>-, -COO-, -OCO-, -SO<SB>2</SB>O-, -OSO<SB>2</SB>-, -NHCO-, -CONH-, -NHSO<SB>2</SB>-, -SO<SB>2</SB>NH-, -NHCS-, -CSNH-, -CN, -N<SP>+</SP>R<SB>3</SB>and -NO<SB>2</SB>, and each of Z and R represents a monovalent end group. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
