FLAME-RETARDANT COATED OPTICAL FIBER AND COATED OPTICAL FIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame-retardant coated optical fiber which does not impair the transmission characteristics of the optical fiber and does not entail the degradation in productivity and the increase of the cost, and a flame- retardant coated optical fiber ribbon. SOLUTION: A jacket 3 formed a thermosetting resin of a curing temperature 200 to 400°C is formed on the outer peripheral part of the optical fiber coated with a thermosetting resin. A plurality of the optical fibers coated with the thermosetting resin are lined up in a parallel row and an outer layer common jacket is formed of the thermosetting resin having a curing temperature 200 to 400°C on the outer peripheral part of the coated optical fiber ribbon. A thermosetting polyimide resin or thermosetting ester imide is used for the thermosetting resin. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
