<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase welding speed and to obtain a lap joint having high strength, in a lap joint for which a metallic plate is welded by a laser beam. <P>SOLUTION: In a laser beam welding method of a lap joint for which metallic plates 1, 2 are lapped, with the lapped part G irradiated by a laser beam for welding, the lapped part G is irradiated from one side by a laser beam 3 in a first welding and irradiated from the opposite side by a laser beam 4 in a second welding.
