<p>One or two bed flat knitting machine coprises a slide with needle lock and needle switch and at least one patterning wheel with pattern sinkers rotatably mounted on the slide. A cylindrical rigid pattern stencil extends through and coaxial with the patterning wheel and its rim of pattern sinkers, and is provided with evenly distributed rims of pattern depressions and elevations. A ring-shaped locking means for each patterning wheel is movable axially with respect to the wheel from a locking position, in which all pattern sinkers of the respective wheel are locked in one or the other survival end positions into a releasing positions, leaving the stroke of the slide, the pattern sinkers locked in one or the other position operate a needle switch adjusting member for adjustment of the needles in succession according to the end position of the associated pattern sinker. The locking member can be pushed into its releasing position for insertion or removal of the pattern stencil. Means are provided for automatic release and locking during shifting of the pattern carrier.</p> |
