The safety belt of obligatory use in order to start a motor vehicle has a claps (6) for engagement in a link (4) which has a switch (5) located between a closure unit (3) and the vehicle starter motor (8) forming part of the vehicle electrical circuit fed by a battery (1). When the clamp is pressed onto the switch when it is introduced into the link, the vehicle can be started by the starter motor.
