PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding member capable of enhancing fatigue strength and anti-abrasiveness and enhancing resistance against seizure. SOLUTION: An overlay 4 prepared by including DLC as a solid lubricant in silver is formed on the sliding surface of a sliding bearing 1. The overlay 4 is formed by sputtering, etc. The silver-based overlay 4 gives higher fatigue strength and anti-abrasiveness compared with those of a lead-based overlay. The inclusion of the solid lubricant in silver reduces a frictional coefficient compared with a simple substance of silver, and the resistance against seizure can be enhanced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
