<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that ensures high reliability by highly accurately detecting the temperature of ambient air all the time and setting process parameters appropriate for electrophotography. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus which records an image on recording paper by an electrophotographic process has: a cooling fan which cools a recording device; a temperature sensor disposed near the cooling fan; and an ambient air temperature calculating means which calculates ambient temperature on the basis of the temperature information of the temperature sensor. The image forming apparatus sets the parameters of the electrophotographic process on the basis of the ambient temperature information of the temperature calculating means. In the image forming apparatus, the ambient air temperature detecting means has a first ambient air temperature calculating means that is used when or right after a power source is turned on and a second ambient air temperature calculating means used for periods other than the above period. The temperature of ambient air is calculated by a second ambient air temperature calculating means after the temperature of the ambient air is calculated by the first ambient air calculating means when the power source is turned on. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
