PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to recognize a deterioration degree before a water heater causes failure when fatal abnormality is caused in a fluid passage by determining the deterioration degree of the secular deterioration in the fluid passage for flowing water and hot water. SOLUTION: Since this water heater is constituted so as to determine whether or not abnormality is caused in the fluid passage such as a pipe on the basis of the deterioration degree by arithmetically operating the deterioration degree of the secular deterioration in the fluid passage of a water supply pipe 4, a hot water appearing pipe 5, and a bypass pipe 6 of the water heater 1 from a control deviation quantity to an initial characteristic of an internal mixing valve 22 caused by the secular deterioration, attention can be aroused to the user about the fact that the secular deterioration of the fluid passage advances by a prescribed value or more before the water heater causes failure, so that the user can prevent sudden failure of the water heater 1 by the fatal abnormality of the fluid passage by previously performing maintenance.
