PURPOSE: A device and method for operating a lamp and a liquid crystal display using the lamp are provided to detect current of the lamp to display the operation state of the lamp to users. CONSTITUTION: A device for operating a lamp includes at least one lamp(30), at least one inverter(22), at least one detector(28), at least one controller(26), and a display(32). The lamp emits lights. The inverter provides driving power to the lamp using a switching element. The detector detects current of the lamp. The controller controls a switching frequency of the switching element in response to the signal provided by the detector. The display displays whether or not the lamp operates according to the signal supplied from the detector. The detector is composed of a low voltage source, a diode for rectifying the current of the lamp, and a resistor connected between the diode and the low voltage source to restrict the quantity of the rectified current. |
