PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a relational database management system (RDBMS) of which the full text can be retrieved by using an existing full text retrieving engine as an index mechanism for retrieving intermediate matching. SOLUTION: An interface part 1 receives the request by an SQL from a user, and issues the processing request to an execution processing part 2. The execution processing part 2 issues the proper processing request to a DB file access part 3 and a full text retrieving engine access part 4 in accordance with the processing request, and processes its result. The DB file access part 3 performs the operation of the DB file 6 holding the data (record file and the index file used in retrieving processing).
