PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic tape library apparatus for surely and effectively performing buffer processing in accordance with need without declining system performance by improving response of a command from a host. SOLUTION: The magnetic tape library apparatus comprises a host communication control portion 102, a magnetic tape communication control portion 103, a command interpretation portion 104 and a control portion 101. The control portion 101 manages the above, operates a magnetic tape apparatus 703 in accordance with a command from a host 701, determines interpretation by the command interpretation portion 104 and responds to the host 701 without issuing a command to the magnetic tape apparatus 703. Due to the configuration of improving response of a command from the host, buffer processing can be surely and effectively performed in accordance with need without declining the system performance.
