<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device capable of eliminating emission of sulfur components to atmospheric air after sulfur component desorption treatment is conducted in holding agent on the upstream side of exhaust. <P>SOLUTION: In this exhaust emission control device, upstream side sulfur holding agent 23 and downstream side sulfur holding agent 26 are provided on an engine exhaust passage. The downstream side sulfur holding agent 26 is disposed downstream of exhaust of the upstream side sulfur holding agent 23. The sulfur holding agent holds the sulfur components contained in exhaust gas in conditions other than the sulfur desorption conditions, and emits the sulfur components held in the sulfur desorption conditions into the exhaust gas. An upstream sulfur desorption means capable of executing the upstream side sulfur desorption treatment is further provided to make the upstream sulfur component holding agent 23 to reach the sulfur desorption conditions without allowing the downstream side sulfur holding agent 26 to reach the sulfur desorption conditions. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
