PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance working efficiency by coupling steel-pipe columns together without the use of welding and a bolt in the construction of a building whose column is designed by using a steel pipe. SOLUTION: A coupling material 3, which is made long enough to almost straddle both the mutually coupled steel pipe columns 1 and 2 with the same cross section and inscribed in the columns 1 and 2, is prefixed to either of the inner peripheries of the columns 1 and 2 in a state of being protruded from an end surface of one column 1 to the side of the other column 2; the column 2 is dropped into the side of the column 1; the coupling material 3 is inserted into the column 2; and an end surface of the column 2 is coupled to the column 1 in a state of butting against the end surface of the column 1.
