PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-forming apparatus, using a simple structure capable of preventing a set-off from occurring in reading both-sided originals. SOLUTION: When a rear image prevention mode is set in an operation panel 20, and a pressure plate is in a closed state, in reading the image recorded on the original, a control section 40 makes a contact type image sensor 13 read the original with a light source of the sensor 13 turned on, to obtain reflection light multivalued image data. Also, the section 40 makes the sensor 13 read the original with the light source of the sensor 13 off, to obtain transmission light multivalued data. An operation section 60 determines multivalued image data, in which a set-off portion is removed from the reflection light multivalued image data, on the basis of the reflection light multivalued image data and the transmission light multivalued image data.
