PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cellular telephone set capable of improving the operability upon character input, without impairing portability. SOLUTION: A cellular telephone set 1 has a telephone set body 2, having a set body upper part 21 and a set body lower part 22 rotatably connected with a hinge 23, and is used upon the character input operation, in a state with its being held by both hands with the set body 2 being oriented horizontally. An upper side operating part 5, having a plurality of key switches, is provided on the set body upper part 21 in the vicinity of the tip thereof, and a lower side operating part 6, having a plurality of key switches, is provided on the set body lower part 22; and further, side surface keys 7, 8 are provided on the side surface of the set body 2. Thus, a user can operate the upper side operating part 5 and the side surface key 7 with his left hand, and the lower side operating part 6 and the side surface key 8 with his right hand, to comfortably operate many keys at a high speed, to efficiently input characters.
